Der Schmetterling
See original
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the French (Français)
In einem Tal, bei einem Bach,
da flog ein bunter Schmetterling;
ein Mädchen, das ihn gerne fing,
das lief dem bunten Tierchen nach.
Es lief dem bunten Tierchen nach;

In a valley by a brook
There flew a colourful butterfly;
A maiden, who would gladly catch it,
Ran after the colourful little creature.
She ran after the colourful little creature;
But suddenly her foot was caught
In the shrubbery and at once
The poor girl fell into the brook!
The poor girl fell into the brook
And screamed; at the screaming, a handsome,
Valiant youth ran up,
Who pulled her quickly out of the brook.
He pulled her quickly out of the brook!
In gratitude the maiden took
Him home with her and since that time
She chases no more butterflies!
