by Jens Peter Jacobsen (1847 - 1885)
Translation by Anonymous / Unidentified Author

Stille, du elskede Kvinde!
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Our translations:  ENG FRE
Stille, du elskede Kvinde!
Tyst maa vi træde, vi to.
Der sover en Sang her inde
I Skovens natlige Ro.

Stille er Vover og Vinde,
Tavs er hver Sangfuglemund,
Tiende Kilderne rinde
Blankt over mossede Bund.

Maanestraalerne spille
Tyst mellem Bøgene frem,
Langs ad Stierne stille
Blunder en lyslig Bræm.

Sølvskyen selv der oppe
Hviler paa Vingen bred,
Højt over Træernes Toppe
Skuer den lyttende ned.

Stille er Vover og Vinde,
Tyst maa vi træde, vi to.
Der sover en Sang her inde
I Skovens natlige Ro.

Landschaft
(Sung text for setting by P. Klenau)
 Matches base text
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Danish (Dansk)
Schweige, geliebteste Fraue,
leis' laß uns schreiten zu zwein.
Es schlummert ein Lied in der Aue,
im kühlen, nächtlichen Hain.

Stille sind Winde und Wellen,
stumm ist der Singvögel Mund.
Schweigend fließen die Quellen,
blinken auf moosigem Grund.

Mondesstrahlen durchfliegen
spielend den Busch und Baum.
Längs der Steige verschwiegen
schlummert ein leuchtender Saum.

Silberwolke dort oben
breitet die Schwingen in Ruh,
über die Wipfel erhoben
schauet die Lauschende zu.

Stille sind Wellen und Winde,
leis' laß uns schreiten zu zwein,
es schlummert ein Lied so linde
im kühlen, nächtlichen Hain.

Set to music by Paul von Klenau (1883 - 1946), "Landschaft", published 1914
