Und athme der Bergluft erquickenden Hauch;
Holihiaoh, johoh!

Yonder, high upon the Alps, there is my world,
The place upon earth that I like best:
There the herbs emit their scent, there the water-spring murmurs,
There the little bells ring so merrily and brightly,
Holihiaoh, johoh!
There I see the villages in mist and smoke,
And breathe refreshing mountain air;
There I know of no noise and screaming,
There I play a Ländler upon my shawm,
Holihiaoh, johoh!
And when winter drives me down into the valley,
Then I think: summer will return sometime!
Summer will bring the Alps back to me:
Up there is everything, my life, my happiness,
Holihiaoh, johoh!
