Auf der Alpe
(Sung text for setting by J. Lang)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG FRE
Wann des Gottes letzter milder
Schimmer sich vom See verlor,
Steigen mir Gedächtnisbilder
Aus der Welle Nacht empor.

Malen mir des Kahnes Schwanken
Den gefurchten Pfad entlang,
Als die Morgenlüfte wanken
Zauberischen Liederklang.

Malen mir von Berges Kuppe
Schweifend den ergötzten Sinn
Und die ländlich schöne Gruppe
Um den Herd der Sennerin.

 ...

Bald verjagt von Sturm und Flocken,
Zieht die Hirtin froh in's Tal,
Und es tönt der Hall der Glocken
Von der Höh' zum letztenmal.
