Auf ihrem Leibrößlein
So weiß wie der Schnee,
Die schönste Prinzessin
reit' durch die Allee.

Der Weg, den das Rößlein
Hintanzet so hold,
Der Sand, den ich streute,
Er blinket wie Gold!

Du rosenfarbs Hütlein
Wohl auf und wohl ab,
O wirf eine Feder,
Verstohlen herab!

Und willst du dagegen
Eine Blüte von mir,
Nimm tausend für eine,
Nimm alle dafür!

Il Giardiniere
(Sung text translation for setting by W. Killmayer)
 See original
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Sul suo cavallino preferito,
candido come la neve,
la più bella principessa
cavalca lungo il viale.

Sulla via che il cavallino
percorre in soave danza,
la sabbia che io ho sparso
splende come oro.

Tu, cappellino color di rosa,
che ondeggi su e giù,
oh, lanciami una piuma
di nascosto quaggiù!

E se vuoi in cambio
un fiore da me,
prendine mille in cambio di una,
prenditeli tutti!
