Schwarze Zweige blättern stumm mich zu
See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Schwarze Zweige blättern stumm mich zu,
denn mein Herz will in die Ruh.
Composition:
Set to music by Armin Knab (1881 - 1951), "Schwarze Zweige blättern stumm mich zu", 1917, published 1925 [ voice and piano ], from Mombert-Lieder, no. 6

Black branches mutely cover me with leaves,
for my heart wishes to enter into peace.
But out of the deepest shadows
there enters a shiningly naked woman,
and once more I shall mate,
because a body is still demanding this soul.
A blue sky is lit up,
And once more I stand dreamily creative in the sunny world.
