Frühlingslied
See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations: ENG FRE
Gekommen ist der Maie,
Die Blumen und Bäume blühn,
Und durch die Himmelsbläue
Die ros'gen Wolken ziehn.
Die lust'gen Vöglein singen
Herab aus luftiger Höh,
Die weißen Lämmer springen
Im weichen grünen Klee.
Doch ich kann nicht springen und singen,
Ich liege krank im Gras;
Ich höre fernes Klingen,
Mir träumt, ich weiß nicht was.
Composition:
Set to music by (Karl) Friedrich Curschmann (1805 - 1841), "Frühlingslied", op. 1 no. 3, published 1854 [ tenor or soprano and piano ], Berlin, Schlesinger

May has come,
The flowers and the trees blossom,
And through the blue of heaven
The rosy clouds travel.
The merry birdlets are singing
Down from the airy heights,
The white lambs are leaping about
In the soft green clover.
But I cannot leap and sing,
Ill I lie in the grass;
I hear a distant ringing,
I am dreaming I know not what.
