Zerschellt des Krieges Speer,
Zerfällt des Kaisers Reich.
Du bist die Sonne, der wir im Zenit begegnen,
Du bist Gewitter, wenn die Wolke kracht.
Als Tränen läßt du deine Verse niederregnen,
Es liest sie der Unsterbliche im Mondenschein bei der Nacht,
Lächelt und weint und meint: Er habe sie erdacht.
