Seht meine lieben Bäume an,
Wie sie so herrlich stehn,
Auf allen Zweigen angethan
Mit Reiffen wunderschön!

Von unten an bis oben 'naus,
Auf allen Zweigelein,
Hängts weis und zierlich, zart und kraus,
Und kann nicht schöner seyn;

Und alle Bäume rund umher,
All' alle weit und breit,
Stehn da, geschmückt mit gleicher Ehr,
In gleicher Herrlichkeit.

Het lied van de rijp
(Sung text translation for setting by F. Schubert)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Zie daar mijn lieve bomen staan,
Zo prachtig in hun tooi,
De takken hebben 'n truitje aan
Van rijp, zo wondermooi!

Van onderaf tot bovenaan,
Op takken groot en klein
Zit wit en sierlijk filigraan,
Het kan niet mooier zijn.

En alle bomen in het rond,
Ja alle, wijd en zijd,
Staan daar, versierd al even pront,
Gelijk in heerlijkheid.

 ...

Note: the text above is taken from stanzas 1-3 of the original text.

'Hij strooit de rijp uit als zout over de aarde' (Sirach, h.43, v.19)
