Mag mein Stern sich strahlend heben,
Mag er sinken - weichest nie!

Führst mich oft in Felsenklüfte,
Wo der Adler einsam haust,
Tannen starren in die Lüfte
Und der Waldstrom donnernd braust.

Meiner Liebsten dann gedenk' ich,
Wild hervor dann die Thräne bricht,
Und an deinen Busen senk' ich
Mein umnachtet Angesicht.

Songeuse Mélancolie !
Mon étoile, rayonnante, peut monter,
Elle peut faiblir, tu ne disparais jamais !

Tu me conduis souvent dans les abîmes rocheux,
Là où demeure l'aigle solitaire,
Où les sapins s'élancent vers le ciel
Et le torrent de la forêt gronde comme le tonnerre.

Puis je pense à mes morts,
Mes larmes jaillissent alors avec violence,
Et sur ta poitrine, je penche
Mon visage enveloppé de nuit.
