Liebeslieder

Song Cycle by Béla Bartók (1881 - 1945)

1.
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Du meine Liebe, du mein Herz,
Du meine Wonn', o du mein Schmerz,
Du meine Welt, in der ich lebe,
Mein Himmel du, darein ich schwebe,
O du mein Grab, in das hinab
Ich ewig meinen Kummer gab!
Du bist die Ruh, du bist der Frieden,
Du bist der Himmel, mir beschieden.
Wenn du mich liebest, macht mich mir werth,
Dein Blick hat mich vor mir verklärt,
Du hebst mich liebend über mich,
Mein guter Geist, mein beßres Ich!

 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Diese Rose pflück' ich hier
In der fremden Ferne,
Liebes Mädchen, dir, ach dir,
Brächt' ich sie so gerne!

Doch bis ich zu dir mag ziehn
Viele weite Meilen,
Ist die Rose längst dahin;
Denn die Rosen eilen.

Nie soll weiter sich in's Land
Lieb' von Liebe scheiden,
Als sich blühend in der Hand
Läßt die Rose tragen;

Oder als die Nachtigall
Halme bringt zum Neste,
Oder als der süße Schall
Wandert mit dem Weste.

 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Du geleitest mich zum Grabe,
Düstere Melancholie!
Mag mein Stern sich strahlend heben,
Mag er sinken - weichest nie!

Führst mich oft in Felsenklüfte,
Wo der Adler einsam haust,
Tannen starren in die Lüfte
Und der Waldstrom donnernd braust.

Meiner Liebsten dann gedenk' ich,
Wild hervor dann die Thräne bricht,
Und an deinen Busen senk' ich
Mein umnachtet Angesicht.

 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich fühle Deinen Odem
  Mich überall umwehn --
Wohin die Augen schweifen
Wähn' ich, Dein Bild zu sehn!

Im Meere meiner Gedanken
  Kannst Du nur untergehn
Um, wie die Sonne, Morgens
  Schön wieder aufzustehn!

5.
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
  Wie herrlich leuchtet
Mir die Natur!
Wie glänzt die Sonne!
Wie lacht die Flur!

  Es dringen die Blüthen
Aus jedem Zweig
Und tausend Stimmen
Aus dem Gesträuch,

  Und Freud und Wonne
Aus jeder Brust.
O Erd', o Sonne!
O Glück, o Lust!

  O Lieb', o Liebe!
So golden schön,
Wie Morgenwolken
Auf jenen Höhn!

  Du segnest herrlich
Das frische Feld,
Im Blütendampfe
Die volle Welt.

  O Mädchen, Mädchen,
Wie lieb ich dich!
Wie blinkt dein Auge,
Wie liebst du mich!

  So liebt die Lerche
Gesang und Luft,
Und Morgenblumen
Den Himmelsduft.

  Wie ich dich liebe
Mit warmen Blut,
Die du mir Jugend
Und Freund und Mut

  Zu neuen Liedern
Und Tänzen gibst.
Sey ewig glücklich,
Wie du mich liebst!

6. Herr! der du alles wohl gemacht Sung Text

Note: this is a multi-text setting

Herr! der Du Alles wohl gemacht!
Ich will nichts, was nicht du willst schenken.
  Du machst es nicht, wie wir's gedacht;
Du machst es besser, als wir's denken.

Mich geb' ich hier in deine Hand,
Daß du mich meiner Liebsten gebest.
  Du hast geschlungen dieses Band,
O daß du's immer fester webest.

O ziehe nicht die Hand zurück,
Die du zum Heil mir ausgestrecket!
  Du leitest mich zu meinem Glück;
Gieb, daß dazu kein Weg mich schrecket.
