Es fliegen zwei Schwalben ins Nachbar sein Haus,
Sie fliegen bald hoch und bald nieder;
Aufs Jahr da kommen sie wieder
Und suchen ihr voriges Haus. 

Sie gehen jezt fort ins neue Land,
Und ziehen jezt eilig hinüber;
Doch kommen sie wieder herüber,
Das ist einem jeden bekannt. 

Und kommen sie wieder zu uns zurück,
Der Bauer geht ihnen entgegen;
Sie bringen ihm viel mal den Segen,
Sie bringen ihm Wohlstand und Glück.

Er vliegen twee zwaluwen naar buurman zijn huis,
Zij vliegen soms boven, soms onder;
En elk jaar voltrekt zich
 het wonder,
Zij zoeken
 hun vorige huis.
 
Zij trekken nu weg naar nieuw gebied,
En vliegen nu haastig naar ginds toe;
Toch komen zij straks weer
 naar hier toe,
En niemand
 van ons weet dat niet.
 
En komen zij straks weer naar ons terug,
De landman, hij loopt hen dan tegen,
Zij brengen hem veelal
 veel zegen,
Zij hebben
 't geluk op hun rug.
