Altes Liebeslied
(Sung text for setting by F. Kücken)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
  Spazieren wollt ich reiten,
Der Liebsten vor die Thür,
Sie blickt nach mir von weitem,
Und sprach mit großer Freud' :
"Seht dort mein's Herzens Zier,
"Wie trabt er her zu mir.
"Trab Rößli trab,
"Trab für und für."

Den Zaum, den ließ ich schiessen,
Und sprengte hin zu ihr,
Und thät sie freundlich grüssen,
Und sprach mit Worten süß:
"Mein Schatz, mein höchste Zier,
"Was machst hier vor der Thür?
"Trab Rößli trab,
"Trab her zu ihr."

  Vom Rößli mein ich sprange,
Und band es an die Thür,
Thät freundlich sie umfangen,
Die Zeit ward uns nicht lang,
Im Garten gingen wir
Sie schaut ins Auge mir.;
Trab Rößli trab,
Trab leis herfür.

  Wir sezten uns da nieder
Wohl in das grüne Gras,
Und sangen hin und wieder
Ach! wüßt' ich doch noch was?
O, Liebchen, was ist das,
Dein Äuglein wird ja naß!.
Trab Rößli trab,
Trab, trab fürbaß.

Te paard wou ik gaan rijden
(Sung text translation for setting by F. Kücken)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Te paard wou ik gaan rijden,
Tot bij mijn liefste voor.
Zij stond mij al te beiden
En sprak daar luid en blij:
“Daar komt mijn matador,
Hoe draaft hij fier mij voor.
Draaf, paardje draaf,
Draaf steeds maar door.”

De toom, die liet ik schieten,
En reed met vaart naar haar,
Ik wou haar warm begroeten
En sprak met woorden zoet:
“Mijn schat, mijn mer à boire,
Wat sta jij daar al klaar?
Draaf, paardje draaf,
Draaf vlug naar haar.”

Van ’t paard ben ik gesprongen
En bond het vast opzij,
‘k Heb vriend’lijk haar omvangen,
De tijd viel ons niet lang,
De tuin in gingen wij,
Verliefd zeer allebei;
Draaf, paardje draaf,
Draaf zacht nabij.

Wij gaven ons gevangen
In ’t gras - hoe groen was dat -,
En hebben aangevangen
De oude liefdeszangen,
Tot ons het oog werd nat
Door 'n hond die ons nazat.
Draaf, paardje draaf,
Draaf, draaf nog wat.
