In der Fremde, in der Nacht
(Sung text for setting by H. von Herzogenberg)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
In der Fremde, in der Nacht
bin ich tief alleine,
Und mir wird kein Trost gebracht
Von des Morgens Scheine.

Sonne geht dem Monde nach,
Auf und nieder Sterne,
Aber alle sehn mich ach!
Von der Liebsten ferne.

 ...

Wie die Blumen aus dem Thau
Sich zur Sonne wenden.
Muß ich nach der Freundin Gau
Thränenblicke senden.
