Torna, torna, estimada meva! Com una flor lluny del sol, la flor de la meva vida s’ha tancat, lluny del teu vermell somriure. Entre els nostres cors, tanta distància; tant d’espai entre les nostres besades. Oh amarg destí! Oh dura absència! Oh grans desigs inapaivagats! ... Al país que m’ha pres l’estimada, ai las! Si jo hi pogués anar; i si el meu cos tingués ales com la meva ànima per volar! Per damunt els verds tossals, les muntanyes amb el front d’atzur, els camps llaurats i els rierols, hi aniria amb un vol ràpid i segur.
