Frejdig flyver den unge Fugl
 (Sung text for setting by C. Sinding)
 Matches original text
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Our translations:  FRE
Frejdig flyver den unge Fugl;
hvorfor stække dens Fjædre?
Tidsnok bliver den gammel; --
blev Sangene derfor bedre?

Ungdom er vel ej altid nok,
maa gaa i Visdommens Lære;
der var dog den Visdom, som gav sit Liv
for Yngling én Time at være.

Men ingen Sanger, om nok saa ung,
som kunde lidt mer end rime.
gav for den graasprængte Tinding
én eneste tankeles Time.
