Composition:
Set to music by Franz Peter Schubert (1797 - 1828), "Die zwei Tugendwege", D 71 (1813) [ vocal trio for male voices ]

Two are the paths, upon which mankind may seek virtue,
Upon finding one barred, the other opens up to you.
He who is fortunate wins blessings by taking action, endures the Sufferer.
Good for him, whose Destiny seeks out both paths!
