Deze herdichting is gebaseerd op de Gregoriaanse melodie. Het 'Tantum ergo', dat meestal als zelfstandige hymne gecomponeerd is en gezongen wordt, maakt deel uit van de hymne 'Pange, lingua'; het omvat daarvan alleen de laatste twee strofen.
