Тайны волшебные сердцем в них чуются.
Плешут, таятся, ласкательно нежные;
Много в их ропоте силы чарующей:
Слышатся думы и страсти безбрежные.
Голос неведомый, душу волнующий,
Нежит, пугает, наводит сомнение.
Слушать велит-ли он? с места-б не сдвинулся;
Гонит-ли прочь? -- Убежал-бы в смятении.
В глубь-ли зовёт? -- Без оглядки-б я кинулся! ...

Qui admirent les eaux depuis le ciel bleu,
En silence je regarde les eaux profondes ;
Mon cœur ressent des secrets magiques en elles.
Elles éclaboussent furtivement, tendrement ;
Il y a beaucoup de force de séduction dans leur murmure :
On entend des pensées et des passions infinies.
Une voix inconnue qui bouleverse mon âme,
Dorlote, effraie, apporte des doutes.
Ordonne-t-elle d'écouter ? -- je ne bouge pas de l'endroit.
Me conduit-elle dehors ? -- je cours dans la confusion.
M'appelle-t-elle dans les profondeurs ? -- sans hésitation je m'élance ! ...
