Der Liebsten Herz ist aufgewacht
Aus einer Nacht voll Sorgen;
Ich hab' ihm einen Gruß gebracht,
Zu neuem Freudenmorgen.
...
Der Liebsten Herz ist aufgewacht
Als wie aus tiefem Traume,
Es sieht erstaunt die Frühlingspracht
Um sich im Weltenraume.
Der Liebsten Herz ist aufgewacht
Zu einem neuen Leben;
Ein Himmel hat es angelacht,
Darein es will verschweben.
Der Liebsten Herz ist aufgewacht
Als wie die Ros' am Strauche;
Die Liebe hat es angefacht
Mit einem frischen Hauche.
Der Liebsten Herz ist aufgewacht,
Es ringt und springt in Freuden,
Und will nun seine reiche Macht
Der Lust an mich vergeuden.
Der Liebsten Herz ist aufgewacht,
Ich hab' es aufgewecket,
Und wache, daß es keine Nacht
Des Grames wieder decket.

My beloved's heart has awakened
From a night full of anxieties;
I have brought it a greeting
To a new morning of joy.
...
My beloved's heart has awakened
As if from a deep dream;
Astonished, it perceives the splendour of springtime
All around in the universe.
My beloved's heart has awakened
To a new life;
A heaven has smiled upon it,
Within which it wishes to waft away.
My beloved's heart has awakened
Like the rose upon the bush;
Love has set it aglow
With a fresh breath.
My beloved's heart has awakened,
It circles and leaps with happiness,
And now wishes to squander
Its rich power of joy on me.
My beloved's heart has awakened,
I have woken it
And keep watch that no night
Of grief ever comes upon it again.
