Wie auf goldnen Leitern, steigen
Diese Töne aus und ein.

Und ein wunderschöner Knabe
Schifft hoch über Tal und Kluft,

Säuselnd in der blauen Luft.

Und in wunderbaren Weisen
Singt er ein uraltes Lied,
Das in linden Zauberkreisen
Hinter seinem Schifflein zieht.

ara tot esdevé tranquil i insòlit!
Allà dalt caminen les daurades ramades,
el pastor té cura de tots nosaltres.

Entrellaçant-se a arbres i branques,
dins la teva tranquil·la cambra,
pugen, com per escales daurades,
aquests sons, dins i fora.

I un bellíssim noiet
singla per damunt valls i afraus,
toca amb la seva vareta d’or,
murmurejant en l’aire tebi.

I de forma meravellosa
canta una cançó molt antiga
que, en suaus cercles màgics,
segueix la seva barqueta.
