Sie konnte mir kein Wörtchen sagen,
Zu viele Lauscher waren wach,

Ella no em pogué dir la més mínima paraula,
hi havia massa gent parant l’orella;
vaig poder tan sols tímidament sondejar el seu esguard
i vaig entendre ben bé el que volia dir.
Sense fer fressa, m’he atansat vers el teu silenci,
tu, frondós tendal de fajos,
amaga, en el teu verd embolcall,
els amants dels ulls del món.

Els homes mai arriben a saber com,
calladament, l’amor fidel ens fa feliços!
Només poden destorbar la joia,
perquè la joia mai els encisa.
El món no permetrà mai la felicitat,
com una presa es pot provar d’atrapar,
o bé la tens o la robes
abans que l’enveja t’agafi per sorpresa.
Sense fer fressa, s’esquitlla de puntetes,
li agrada el silenci i la nit,
fuig amb passos lleugers
d’allà on sotja el traïdor.
Oh, envolta tu dolça font
