Jomfruen under lind
 (Sung text for setting by W. Peterson-Berger)
 See original
Language: Danish (Dansk)
I våren knoppes en lind så grøn
med roser og martsviol;
der under sidder en jomfru skøn
og syr mod den klare sol.

Selv er hun ligest en sol i vår
som æblet er hendes kind;
Når hun for solen slår ud sit hår,
det falder som blomster fra lind.

 ...

Som solen fanges af lindens blad,
så fængsler hun sans og sind,
så har hun mig bundet med tryllekvad
og fanget mit hjerte ind.
 ...

Composition:

    Set to music by Wilhelm Peterson-Berger (1867 - 1942), "Jomfruen under lind", op. 10 (3 Sanger = Three Songs) no. 1 (1895), stanzas 1-2,4 [ voice and piano ], also set in Swedish (Svenska)
