De kinderen, zij staken hun spel

De kinderen zeggen 't haar na
Een zonnestraal glijdt door het loover
Een glimlach, een glimlach van 's Heeren gena

The Angelus chimes in the distance
Language: English  after the Dutch (Nederlands)
The Angelus chimes in the distance
In tones so pure and so clear
The grandmother kneels on the doorstep
The children, interrupting their play.

Refrain:
 Grandmother prays Our Father
 The children repeat after her
A ray of the sun shines through the foliage
A smile, a smile of the grace of the Lord.

She prays: Oh God, bestow too your blessing
On these children so small
And be near them with your kindness
When I can't be with them any more.

(Refrain)
