Vsyo proshlo; propala sila, Pritupilsya vzglyad; Smert` v mogilu ulozhila Detok i vnuchat. S nim v izbushke zakopteloj Kot odin zhivyot. Star i on, i spit den` cely'j, S pechki ne spry'gnyot. Stariku nemnogo nado: Lapti splest` da sby't` — Vot i sy't. Ego otrada — V Bozhij xram xodit`. K stenke, okolo poroga, Stanet tam, kryaxtya, I za skorbi slavit Boga Bozhie ditya. Rad on zhit`, ne proch` v mogilu — V tyomny'j ugolok… Gde ty' cherpal e`tu silu, Bedny'j muzhichok?
