Sturm, wie lieb ich dich, wilden Gesellen,
Wenn die schäumenden Wellen am Kliff zerschellen,
  Wenn die Wolken zerfetzt am Himmel jagen,
  Wie ein Feind gehetzt, versprengt, geschlagen.
Die Wälder stöhnen in furchtbaren Wehen,
Dazwischen das Höhnen: Vergehen, Vergehen!
  Um die Türme rast du und schreckst die Wächter,
  In die Glocken faßt du mit grausem Gelächter:
Ich bin der Geist über Leben und Tod,
Meine Fackel gleißt wie das Abendrot,
  Meine Stimme gellt wie der Wille der Macht,
  Mein ist die Welt und die stille der Nacht,
  Wenn mein Blitzbeil fällt, wie das knattert und kracht!
  Ha! Ha! Ha! Ich bin der König!

Tempesta, oh com t’estimo, companya salvatge,
quan les ones escumoses trenquen a les roques,
   quan els núvols esquinçats corren rabent pel cel
   com un enemic perseguit, dispersat, vençut.
Els boscos gemeguen en terrible sofriment,
entremig l’escarni: transir, transir!
   T’atures al voltant de les torres i espantes els guardians,
   t’aferres a les campanes amb cruels rialles:
jo sóc l’esperit per damunt la vida i la mort,
la meva torxa resplendeix com el vermell del capvespre,
   la meva veu ressona com la volença del poder,
   el món és meu i el silenci de la nit,
   quan cau la destral del llamp, com espetega i esclata!
   Ha! ha! ha! Jo sóc la reina!
