Süße Augen, klare Bronnen!
Meine Qual und Seligkeit
Ist fürwahr aus euch [geronnen]¹,
Und mein Dichten euch geweiht.

  Wo ich weile,
  [Wie]² ich eile,
Liebend strahlet ihr mich an;
  Ihr erleuchtet
  Ihr befeuchtet
Mir mit Thränen meine Bahn.

Treue Sterne schwindet nimmer,
Leitet mich zum Acheron!
Und mit eurem letzten Schimmer

El meu turment i la meva benaurança
els he veritablement assolit de vosaltres
i el meu poema us està dedicat.

Allà on estic, 
allà on vaig,
em resplendiu amorosament;
vosaltres m’il·lumineu, 
m’humitegeu
amb llàgrimes el meu camí.

Estrelles fidels, no desapareixeu mai,
guieu-me vers Aqueront!
I amb la vostra darrera llum
que fugi també la meva vida.
