by (Christian) Friedrich Hebbel (1813 - 1863)

Zu Pferd! Zu Pferd! Es saus't der Wind!
Language: German (Deutsch)
Zu Pferd! Zu Pferd! Es saus't der Wind!
Schneewolken, düstre, jagen!
Die schütten nun den Winter aus!
Zu Pferd! Zu Pferd! Durch Saus und Braus
Die heiße Brust zu tragen!

Mit krausen Nüstern prüft das Roß
Die Luft, dann wiehert's muthig;
Nur wie ich herrsche, dient das Thier,
Ein Druck: von dannen fliegt's mit mir,
Als wär' mein Sporn schon blutig.

In meinem Mantel wühlt der Wind,
Er raubt mir fast die Mütze;
Ich hab' ihn gern auf meiner Spur,
An seiner Wuth erprob' ich's nur,
Wie fest ich oben sitze.
