    Seht, an der Schlucht dort
Lagern die Kurden;
Eilig zur Flucht fort,
Eh' wir bemerkt von den Lauernden wurden!
 
    Auf, nach dem Walde zieht
Hurtig, ihr Loren!
Wenn ihr nicht bald flieht,
Ist die gewonnene Beute verloren.
 
    Dort an dem Fahrpfad
Lagern wir wieder;
Wenn ihre Schaar naht,
Schießen wir aus den Gebüschen sie nieder.

Passing hordes

    See, at yonder gorge
The Kurds are encamped;
Quickly take flight,
Before the lurking ones notice us!
 
    Arise, take to the woods
Quickly, you wagons!
If you do not flee soon,
The booty we have won shall be lost.
 
    There at the road
We shall camp again;
When their throng nears
We shall shoot them down from the bushes.
