Det var i vårens ljusa tid,
när häggen stod i blom,
och späda grönskan lyste fin
i all sin rikedom.
 
När livet ler så glatt och hult,
och sinnet är så väntansfullt
av aningar, av hopp och tro,
och fågeln bygger bo.
 
Det var i vårens ljusa tid,
jag såg dig första gång,
du kom så fagert och så blid
med solsken och med sång,
 
du kom med blommor i ditt hår,
en älva likt bland ljusa snår,
du lärde mig, vad lycka är,
och vem jag håller kär.

Kun elämä hymyilee niin iloisena ja suloisena,
ja mieli on niin täynnä odotusta
aavistusta, toivoa ja uskoa,
ja linnut rakentavat pesää.
 
Kevään suloiseen aikaan
näin sinut ensi kerran,
sinä tulit niin ihanana ja suloisena
mukanasi auringonpaiste ja laulu,
 
sinä tulit kukkia hiuksissasi,
kuin keijukainen valoisassa pensaikossa,
sinä opetit minulle, mitä onni on,
ja ketä minä rakastan.
