Le ciel profond reflète en étoiles nos larmes, 
Car nous pleurons, ce soir, de nous sentir trop vivre. 
La brume est chaude, la plus blanche rose enivre, 
La chair baigne en un lac balsamique, et le calme

Nocturne ajoute à la confusion des âmes. 
La peine d'un lointain violon nous arrive 
En longs sanglots qui font la volupté pensive. 
On entend le jardin mystérieux qui parle.

Nulle haleine. Là-bas, le rossignol égoutte 
Ses perles vives ; l'ombre est claire ; toute flûte 
Soupire... Il faut nous taire, il faut aimer, les heures

Ont suspendu leur vol à tes lèvres : écoute 
S'effeuiller en frissons de nacre sous la lune 
Les frêles hampes d'eau des cours intérieures.
