Gebet
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Herr, laß mich hungern dann und wann,
Satt sein macht stumpf und träge,
Und schick' mir Feinde, Mann um Mann,
Kampf hält die Kräfte rege.

Gib leichten Fuß zu Spiel und Tanz,
Flugkraft in goldne Ferne,
Und häng' den Kranz, den vollen Kranz,
Mir höher in die Sterne.

Confirmed with Gustav Falke, Ausgewählte Gedichte, herausgegeben von Karl-Maria Guth, Berlin: Hofenberg, 2014, page 8

Prayer
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Lord, let me hunger now and then,
To be satiated makes one dull and indolent;
And send me enemies, man upon man,
Battle keeps one’s powers vigorous.

Give me light feet to play and dance,
The power of flight into the golden distance,
And hang the wreath, the full wreath,
Higher for me in the stars.
