Note: Schubert received Mayrhofer's texts in handwriting. This poem does not appear in any printed edition of Mayrhofer's poems. Schubert wrote only the first stanza into his manuscript, but put a repeat sign at the end. The text of the second stanza is taken from the first edition of the song; it cannot be confirmed that it does originate from Mayrhofer.
