Daar bloeit, op het graf, een...

Daar bloeit, op het graf, een vergeet-mij-niet,
diep tusschen de treurende halmen.
Daar hijgt door de gerzen een rouwvol lied,
[de vogelkens hoort men er psalmen]1.

Het houtene kruisken bedekt er den grond,
verbroken, vermolmd, verlaten;
Het klimmerblaadje slingert er rond  --
[Arme doode! Wat kan het u]2 baten?

[Daar ruischen winden]3 over het graf
en laten hun "Requiem" hooren;
zij schudden van 't loover den dauwdrop af --
Die zal, wie daar sluimert, niet stooren!...

Daar bloeit op het graf een vergeet-mij-niet,
[de vogelkens hoort men er psalmen -]4
Ach! zij, die daar sluimert, zij trilt bij het lied
en zucht... diep onder de halmen.
