en ligt daar zoo stil in uw doodkist neer . . .
Maar ach! al die min, die mijn hert heeft gevoed,
maar ach! al die droomen van 't dichtergemoed,
die bleven, die bleven, en roepen U weer!

Gij zijt gestorven, en rust daar zoo zoet,
en ligt daar zoo kalm onder 't wuivende gras . . .
Maar ach! al mijn hopen, in aakligen gloed,
als pikzwarte raven met bekken vol bloed,
doorboren mijn boezem met spottend gekras!
