Schoonslaapsterken
Language: Dutch (Nederlands) 
En 'k heb U in een droom gezien,
op het bruidsbed, - tusschen vier planken!
Gij laagt daar zoo blank in uw sneeuwen gewaad,
zoo rein was de lach op uw doode gelaat,
Schoonslaapsterken, - tusschen vier planken! . . . 

En wonderer bloemen, in lentepracht,
ontsproten rond uwe sponde . . .
O schrik! aan uw rechterzijde, daar zat
de afschuwlike spinster, de Dood, en bad,
domslapend, naast uwe sponde!

Ik was, ach! de Prins, due u wekken moest:
" Schoonslaapsterken, wouds du ontwaken?" - 
Ik zoende U zoo hoopvol, zoo minnend de wang,
ik noemde U bij naam en herhaalde 't zoo lang!
Maar de slapende spinster, die lachte!
