Les trois habillements
        Language: French (Français)

        Un jeun' militaire,
Revenant de guerre,
Cherchant ses amours;
S'il les a tant cherchées,
Les a bien trouvées
Au fond d'une tour.
«Ah! dis-moi, la belle,
Qui t'a renfermée
Dedans cette tour?»
«Oh! C'est mon très cher pèr'
Qui me tient prisonnière
Dedans cette tour.»
Son père en colère
La prend et l'emmène,
Dans l'eau l'a jetée,
Mais le galant aimable
Se mit à la nage,
L'en a retirée.
La première ville,
Son amant l'habille
Tout en satin blanc;
A la deuxième ville,
Son amant l'habille
En or, en argent;
La troisième ville,
Son amant l'habille
En épousement,
En lui disant: «Ma mie,
Viens je t'en supplie
A mon beau régiment!»

The three sets of clothing
        Language: English  after the French (Français)

        A young soldier,
Returning from war
Looking for love:
If he sought it so,
He truly found it
At the bottom of a tower.
"Ah, tell me, beautiful one,
Who has shut you up
In this tower?"
"Oh! It's my very dear father
Who holds me prisoner
In this tower."
Her father, in his anger,
Grabs her and drags her away,
Threw her in the water,
But the kind gentleman
Went for a swim,
And pulled her out.
The first town,
Her lover dresses her
All in white satin;
In the second town,
Her lover dresses her
In gold and silver;
The third town,
Her lover dresses her
In marriage,
Saying to her: "My sweet,
Come, I beg you,
To my fine regiment!"
