Confirmed with Aus der Teufe. Bergmännische Dichtungen von Dr. Johann Nep. Vogl, zweite vermehrte Auflage, Wien: Verlag von Carl Gerold's Sohn, 1856, pages 55-56
Note: It really is "Herd" in the first stanza and "Heerd" in the last stanza.

You are now a comrade of ours In the tunnels and at the smelter, And word and deed shall show That we are fond of each other. The horrors of the depths shall not Cause our cheeks to pale, May no gnome hinder our shift, May no weather alarm us. May no false rivers frighten us With their roaring wild torrents, And may no rocky wall suppress our courage When it collapses horrifically. May valiantly and boldly be plied The shaft that is pregnant with death, And our hearts shall glow joyfully In the wild battles of miners. May through our strength the ore Be wrested from the hand of the gnome, So that after an imprisonment of a thousand years It may be of use to the land. When our descent has been completed In companionable unity, Then, after the habit of miners, may We be refreshed with a beaker of golden wine. And if a changeable fate tears you Away from here again, Then may you, wherever you are, Still think back fondly of us. Therefore before the new path is chosen Let us empty our glasses joyfully: Good luck, you new comrade Of the tunnels and of the smelter!
