Clouds are torn asunder; from the glowing sky Faltering light strays over blinded valleys. Blown along by a föhn-like storm, I flee with unwearied tread Through a beclouded life. Oh that always only for moments A storm kindly blows away the grey mists Between me and the eternal light! A foreign land surrounds me, Torn from my moorings, far from my homeland, The powerful wave of fate tosses me about. Chase the clouds, föhn-wind, Tear away the veils, So that light might fall upon my doubtful paths!
