Je te supplye Amour, arreste ma guerriere
Language: French (Français)
Our translations:  ENG

Et me retourne encor ma liberté premiere.

Si tu es juste, Amour, tu me dois deslier

I beg you, Love, stop my warrior maid
Language: English  after the French (Français)
I beg you, Love, stop my warrior maid
Who flees so quickly; for alas I cannot,
My running is too slow and the more I pursue her
The more she gets away, leaving me behind.

At least do one of two things; exalt my prayer
Or leave me not in the state I am;
Make me what I was, freed of all troubles,
And return to me again my initial freedom.

If you are just, Love, you must free me,
Or you must for my good curb this hardship.
But alas! My waiting is vain and wretched,

[I am begging a proud tyrant] who is pleased at our ills,
Who gets drunk on tears, who feasts on troubles;
The more he is begged, the less he shows pity.
