Unter den Palmen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Palmen wiegen, leicht sich biegen
über heißem Wüstensand.
Liebesschwingen leis' mich bringen
hin zum fernen Heimatland.

Mag entzückend, mag berückend
mich des Ostens Pracht umwehen,
dennoch werde, teure Erde,
jubelnd ich dich wiedersehen.

Dein auch denk' ich, Tränen schenk' ich
dir zumeist, von der ich schied,
ferne Süße, die ich grüße,
bis im Wind verhallt mein Lied.

Holde Treue, stets aufs Neue
steht vor mir dein Bildnis hehr,
deinetwillen nie zu stillen
ist mein Wunsch der Wiederkehr.

Under the palms
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
 The palms sway, bending easily
 over the hot desert sands.
 Beloved wings take me softly
 to my distant homeland.

 Enchanting, captivating thoughts
of Eastern splendor waft down to me,
 yet welcome, dear earth,
 rejoicing, I see you again.

Thinking then of you, my tears flow.
 You, with whom I parted,
 distant sweetness, I greet you,
my song is held back by the wind.

 True Love stays always fresh,
 your picture stands before me,
 keeping the sweet memory of you;
my wish always is to return to you.
