Seit meiner Kindheit
War ich ein Soldat;
Für mein Land kämpfend
habe ich Land und Wasser überquert

Aber jetzt, da mir die Last der Jahre aufgebürdet ist
Jetzt, da meine Kraft vergangen ist
Hat sogar das Land, das ich verteidigt habe,
Mein Heimatland, mich vergessen.
