by Robert Urban (1814 - 1873)

Alte Weise
Language: German (Deutsch)
Sitzt a Vogel im Bauer,
Singt a uralte Weis',
Und das klingt a so traurig
Und i weiß net wie's heißt.

Sitzt die Lieb in dem Herzen
Und im Antlitz die Scham,
Und i kann's net vergessen
Und i weiß net wie's kam.

Un i möcht immer weinen
Und i bin noch so jung --
Und dem Vogel sein' Weise
A so traurig erklung!

Confirmed with Sang und Klang in Gedichte von Robert Urban, Springer-Verlag, Berlin, Heidelberg GmbH, 1858, page 24.
