 Ont le haut mont de Caucase batu,
 Le beau iour vient, de lueur reuétu.
 Quand Phebus ha son cerne fait en terre,

Et l'Océan il regaigne à grand erre :
 Sa seur se montre auec son chef pointu.
 Quand quelque tems le Parthe ha combatu,
 Il prent la fuite & son arc il desserre.

Vn tems t'ay vù & consolé pleintif,
 Et defiant de mon feu peu hatif :
 Mais maintenant que tu m'as embrasee.

Et suis au point auquel tu me voulois.
 Tu as ta flame en quelque eau arrosee.
 Et es plus froit qu'estre ie ne soulois.

Wenn Wetter eine Zeit und Hagelschauer
oben den hohen Kaukasus umfing,
kommt langsam wieder schönes Licht zur Dauer.
Und Phöbus, wenn er seinen vollen Ring
 
vollendet hat, tritt rückwärts in die Wogen
und läßt die schmale Schwester an die Reih.
Sogar des Parthers Kampfwut geht vorbei,
er flieht zuletzt und schleppt den schlaffen Bogen.
 
War eine Zeit, da schien dir mein Gefühl
(ich tröstete dich manchmal) unentschlossen;
doch jetzt, seit ich in deinen Armen war
 
und dort, wo du mich wolltest, ganz und gar:
hast du dein Feuer plötzlich fortgegossen
und bist, wie ich es niemals konnte, kühl.
