by Alexandre de Lacharme, Père (1695 - 1767)
Translation by Friedrich Rückert (1788 - 1866)

Die blinden Tonspielkundigen
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Latin
Die blinden Tonspielkundigen
Sind in des Kaisers Hallen,
Die blinden Wohllautmundigen
Singen mit Wohlgefallen.

Am Prachtmusikgestell Ye-Kiù,
Wo bunte Federn prangen,
Die Instrumente Tao, Tschu, Yù
Und King sind aufgehangen.

Die Pauken tönen groß und klein,
Die Trommeln und Tamburen,
Und Flöt' und Pfeife hauchen d'rein,
Und Rohre [von]1 den Fluren.

Die Ahnen lauschen froh dem Schall,
Das Volk lobt uns're Feste,
Und bis zum Ende bleiben all'
Uns die vergnügten Gäste.
