Na poljane lesnoj ispolin vekovoj
odinoko spit,
v murave molodoj na poljane lesnoj
drevnij dub stoit.

Mnogo vesen i zim otšumelo nad nim,
on i chmur i sed;
no stoit nevredim vsem dubam molodym
staryj, staryj ded.

Mnogo videl on slez i nevzgod perenes
v dni bylych godin,
no ot vetra i groz, kak granitnyj utes,
on ne pal odin.

Zelenejuščij vschod na poljane cvetet...
Tol'ko on ponik.
Ot vesny on ne ždet ni utech, ni zabot:
gluch i nem starik.

Mež sosedej svoich on ne vidit rodnych.
Pust' šumit vesna!
On naveki zatich, snovidenij bylych
ego grust' polna.

On grustit o lesach, gde v zelenych šatrach
byl on - gordyj car',
o mogučich dubach, da o tech solov'jach,
čto pevali vstar'...

Na poljane lesnoj ispolin vekovoj
smotrit v čuždyj bor.
On ponik golovoj, i grozy rokovoj
ždet on s davnich por.
