Mais tu peux l'emplir au lieu de roses 
D'encens de Bassora, si tu veux, 
Ou d'essence de roses, 
Douce Myriam, pour tes cheveux.

Tu peux y mettre encor des dragées d'Ormuz,
Des gâteaux sucrés de raisin ou de riz, 
Ô toute douce, s'il t'amuse 
De les croquer de tes dents chéries. 

Sinon je l'emplirai jusqu'au ras 
Pour y goûter la perfide langueur 
Du vin doré de Schiraz,
