Jag ser vid horisonten silhouetten av eukalyptusträdet.
Framför mig på fältet, hur den larmar, fågelskaran!
Jag har ett teblad mellan mina läppar,
på dig jag tänker, hjärtat blir så tungt.
Var är dunu? Då jag dig senast såg,
bördor av ris på dina späda skuldror
du till din faders hydda bar;
det var en torr och brännhet dag, som denna är,
och dina kinder voro vita som jade,
och där intill vid eukalyptusträdet, du stilla låg.
Jag smög försagd förbi dig, högt hjärtat slog,
då jag så skön dig såg.
Jag ser en horisont med silhouetten av eukalyptusträdet.
Det gör mig sorgsen, sorgsen intill döden.
