Translation by Moses Mendelssohn (1729 - 1786)

Ob deiner Wunderzeichen staunen
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Latin
Ob deiner Wunderzeichen staunen
die Einbewohner ferner Zonen.
Du machst frohlocken
des Morgens und des Abends Anbeginn.
Du suchest heim die Erde, wässerst sie,
bereicherst sie gar sehr.
Wohl bekleidet ihre Frucht,
wenn du so den Boden ebnest;
tränkest ihre Furchen,
senkest ein das Aufgepflügte,
schmelzest es mit Regenguss,
segnest ihr Gewächs.
Bekrönst das Jahr mit deinem Gute;
von deinen Spuren triefet Überfluss.
Es triefen Auen in der Wüste,
die Hügel gürten sich mit Fröhlichkeit.
Die Triften kleiden sich mit Schafen,
Kornfrucht hüllt die Täler ein.
Alles jauchzet, alles singet.

Note: based on Psalm 65,9-14.
