by Nikoloz Baratashvili
Translation by Boris Leonidovich Pasternak (1890 - 1960)

Sinij cvet
Language: Russian (Русский)  after the Georgian (Kartuli)
Cvet nebesnyj, sinij cvet
Poljubil ja s malykh let.
V detstve on mne oznachal
Sinevu inykh nachal.
I teper', kogda dostig
Ja vershiny dnej svoikh,
V zhertvu ostal'nym cvetam
Golubogo ne otdam

On prekrasen bez prikras -
`Eto cvet ljubimykh glaz,
`Eto vzgljad bezdonnyj tvoj,
Opaljonnyj sinevoj,
`Eto cvet mojej mechty,
`Eto kraska vysoty.
V `etot goluboj rastvor
Pogruzhjon zemnoj prostor

`Eto ljogkij perekhod
V neizvestnost' ot zabot
I ot plachushchikh rodnykh
Na pokhoronakh tvoikh.
`Eto sinij negustoj
Inej nad mojej plitoj,
`Eto sizyj zimnij dym
Mgly nad imenem moim.

Cvet nebesnyj, sinij cvet
Poljubil ja s malykh let.
V detstve on mne oznachal
Sinevu inykh nachal.
I teper', kogda dostig
Ja vershiny dnej svoikh,
V zhertvu ostal'nym cvetam
Golubogo ne otdam.
